Khaled Gomaa started performing in live bands at the age of sixteen. He started “Dragons”, one of the first pop groups in Egypt in 1984, which played covers of contemporary European and American hits, quite revolutionary at that time in Egypt. At the same time he was studying and came out for the Egyptian National Youth team in swimming and waterpolo.

He started playing guitar when he was 13 years old and soon developed a passion for the bass. He kept on playing during his Business Administration study, which provided a firm background to his natural talent for management and marketing. Apart from live performances with some of the famous Egyptian artists, he was providing the bass-line and background vocals for various singers in the Egyptian studios and worked as a technical recorder.

In 1993 he developed another passion, the passion for scuba diving, which resulted in a temporary withdrawal from the music scene. Then Khaled moved to Jamaica, the Island of Music in 1996 where the reggae legacy and the vibrant music culture soon attracted him back to the stage. He played the bass and back vocals in the band of Tommy Rickets and was involved in the production of his CD “Consumate”. This time also Khaled was involved in management and promotion activities.

Back in Egypt in 1999 he performed incidentally at first, while he continued his diving activities. Soon he became seriously involved in music again, with his old friend Sabri El Kosheiry, this time Khaled is the lead singer. His album, which will be released soon, will show his interest in combining pop music styles with Arabic music.  

His love for Rock music is clear when you see him on stage, playing the bass in his latest band “On the rocks” in Sharm El Sheikh.
